Colloquially we are referring to this pop-up as the Surrey Saucer Maple Project, after a project described in Peter Adam's book "Bonsai with Japanese Maples found on pages 70 to 73. A young whip is threaded through a hole drilled in a China saucer. The trunk will ground layer on the saucers surface as it expands and is choked by the saucer as it swells an fills the hole. He provides instructions for years one thru five and beyond. It will be a blast.
John and Jeff hope you will join us and craft a spectacular deciduous shohin bonsai from a trident maple. You will gain conidence as you create a bonsai that you complete crafted yourself.
